Comparative Study and Limits of Different Level-Set Formulations for the Modeling of Anisotropic Grain Growth

Four different finite element level-set (FE-LS) formulations are compared for the modeling of grain growth in context polycrystalline structures and, moreover, two them presented first time using anisotropic boundary (GB) energy and mobility. Mean values distributions four formulations. First, we present strong weak models crystallographic parameters used at mesoscopic scale. Second, some Grim Reaper analytical cases with simulation results, here evolutions individual multiple junctions followed. Additionally, large scale simulations presented. Anisotropic GB mobility respectively defined as functions misorientation/inclination disorientation. The evolution disorientation distribution function (DDF) is computed its accordance prior works. We found that formulation called "Anisotropic" more physical one but it could be replaced by an Isotropic simple microstructures presenting initial Mackenzie-type DDF.
